Hatred and anger always go hand in hand. Dear friends, I am sad to say that many, many people today suffer from a disease called ‘hatred’. In the Netherlands, where I live and where this ministry is based, hatred is growing into un-proportionate heights. No week passes without the National Newspaper quoting some kind of hate instigated incident. People seem to be walking this earth in an uncontrolled, unproportionate state of perpetual hatred. Where does this hatred come from?
Some say it is due to the influence of the Euro, our ‘economic adversary’. Some say it is due to the signs of the times, we nowadays live in a society that lays high demands, while others say it is due to the influence of the New Age Movement. This movement encourages people to live as they feel in a manner of speech. What is right and what s wrong? I say, it is all these factors combined and maybe many more such as maybe a familiar demon called hatred what causes people to live their daily lives in an uncontrolled state of hatred. The question here is, do these people know that hatred is indeed a deadly disease? Do they know that hatred can cause heart attacks, ulcers, headaches, and even cancer? Many also fail to understand that hatred and anger disclose unforgiveness and unforgivenss puts you under a curse. God said that we should forgive in order to be forgiven from our sins by God.
“And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”(Mt 6:12-15).
To forgive is for our own benefit, physically and spiritually. Unforgiveness not only opens the doors to demons of hatred and anger to enter and create havoc in your life, but unforgiveness also causes bitterness and all kinds of destructive emotions. People who are bitter for example, are difficult people to live with. I know someone who is bitter all the time. This person is not only very difficult to like and love, but the sad thing here is, that he has left a trail of anger, grief and sadness behind. Even his children were victims of his bitterness which in his case, has its roots in utter hatred. Sad to say that he has nobody in his life left.
Brethren, hatred not only is an ugly and utterly destroying emotion, but it also leaves severe physical implications behind, that will eventually not only rule your heart, but your health as well! Furthermore hatred does have far more implications than just the emotion, for example, it stirs up strife (Prov. 10:12), it encourages lying (Prov.10:18), and it conceals deceit and all kinds of criminal activities (Prov.26:26). Needless to say that hatred is the opposite of love and thus opposite to God. (Gal 5:20). People who conceal hatred in their hearts usually also harbor envy towards others. And we all know that people who suffer from hatred, jealousy and anger for example will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
Thus we see that hatred goes far deeper and has a far broader outreach than we give it credit for. How many murders have not been committed due to hatred? Many. How many robberies have been committed due to envy that has its roots in a deep engraved hatred? Many. Hatred gives way to all kinds of criminal behavior. Hatred belongs to Satan, for he hates God and therefore hates us Christians. His hatred encourages him to try to destroy us all. Hatred is utterly destructive!
Hatred is an irrational feeling and goes absolutely against God. People who bear this emotion in their hearts usually act in an uncontrolled way. People who have testified to murder while being in such an uncontrolled state of hatred, have testified that while under that emotion, there minds where in fact totally blank. They just felt nothing but hatred. Hatred comes from Satan and is therefore utterly demonic in origin. It is a demon folks, who likes to destroy you and others. Many people are controlled by this demon and do not even know it. They lash out at others for no apparent reason, or join hate instigated groups such as racist groups and heavy metal bands who only feed their hatred even further. You need to realize that sooner or later hatred will catch up with you in some form or another if you do not control your hatred. Sooner or later you will have to deal with the consequences of your actions instigated by hatred! Act now before it is too late to regret it!!
Jails are full of people who reacted out to hatred. Even psychic clinical wards are full of people who are controlled by these demons of hatred. Yes, hatred opens the doors to all kinds of demonic activity in your life. Psychologists are learning to see this more and more and dealing with it accordingly. Too many emotions are being stirred up by hatred, please realize that. Too many damages done, too many scars left that only heal very slowly. Hatred has perpetrators as well as victims. Hatred always goes against an individual or a society. It always is on the look-out for victims. God hates therefore hatred. He has told us to forgive and to be merciful:
“Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful”(Lk 6:36).
Have you ever noticed that every advice God gives us on how to deal with our fellow Christians is a reflection of how He deals with us? God tells us to forgive because He does forgive us, He tells us to love because He is love etc. God wants us to become more and more like Christ and thus like Him. As Christians we ought and should be a reflection of what Christ is. We ought to take heed of His advice not only for our own benefit but for the benefit of the Kingdom of God here on earth. We have as Christians an obligation you know, to set the example to un-believers. We ought to give the example of rightful Christian living in order for unbelievers to eventually follow into our footsteps.
When somebody reacts towards you in hatred, pray for that person, even though you find it difficult. Believe me, the first time to pray and to forgive is extremely hard, but the second time it will be easier. Nobody, and most certainly not God, tells us that it is easy to follow into Christ’s footsteps. Nevertheless we are expected to try to do so, even at the expense of our own feelings. To repay hatred with hatred will not only worsen the situation but it will open you to an attack from Satan. Hatred is his territory and he knows it well. That is why he uses it to destroy us. We are not allowed to enter his territory for our own good. Satan is more cunning and much more deceitful than we will ever realize. He will always outwit us with his schemes, and the sad truth is that he is already doing so, and doing it in a much more stronger way than we will ever realize.
Be conscious about it. If people irritate you or they treat you disrespectfully say so, but never give in to hatred. If their answer is hatred, bless them. Do not give the devil a foothold in your life. Instead answer hatred with love and longsuffering. Paul tells us this:
“With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love”(Ef 4:2). Those are the weapons of God. The weapons of Satan will only destroy you but the Heavenly weapons will ensure you peace and blessing .I know that there are situations in which not to bare hatred is really difficult. For those situations you need to pray to God and ask Him to cleanse your heart and give you forgiveness. God will surely answer your prayer, but do never ever repay hatred with hatred. Resist the Devil and he will flee from you! (1 Peter 5:8)
