This article is not an article to articulate the special occult references J.K. Rowling gives in her books, as it is more my intention to open the eyes of Christian parents about this hype. The hype of Harry Potter has taken many people to come under Harry Potter ’s spell. Sad to say that even Christians have fallen prey to this spell. The question here is, do Christians really know the truth behind the characters and the spells in these books? Do they know these books are full of occult symbolism, witchcraft initiations and spells? I believe these books are hardly as innocent as they look. The author of these books has so much as admitted publicly that she has done much research on these occult topics, only later to negate allegations againl Why is this so? She lives a very secluded life, seldom appearing on TV shows and hardly ever giving interviews. Is she in fact trying to set an example of secrecy? Or is she avoiding us finding the evil truth behind those books?
You need to know that her books all contain much accurate information on the occult and witchcraft. Witches and other members of the occult love to read her books! Some witches even go so far as to say that her books contain accurate truths about spells and enchantments. One thing this hype has reached is the sad acceptance world-wide of witchcraft, as something which is good or which only comes out of fiction books. . Wiccan’s and other paganists are very thankful for this hype, for it has given them the world-wide acceptance they have long been longing for. One thing we must take very serious notice of, is the fact that her books very often make references to the occult and these references are more than accurate!
She incorporates real characters and real witchcraft books in her own books such as Paracelsus (who was an alchemist), and Nicholas Flamel (a medieval sorcerer) to name but a few. She mentions and uses real sorcery formulas and occult encyclopedic books such as the Book of Spells, the History of Magic. These books really do exist and these books tell you exactly how to cast spells and use magic. This can hardly be innocent can it, to incorporate these things into children’s books?
Her sixth book apparently will be full of kabbalah which is very occult in origin. Many children's interest has now been raised by these books. Their focus and interest in magic has never been so high as it is today, thanks to these books. The result of these books is that our markets are currently being stached with all kinds of occult books, which are written for our children! Magazines that enhance witchcraft such as Teen Witch have become immensely popular amongst our youth. All sorts of witchcraft books such as the Wicca Spell book and Charmed, the book of Love spells have now become quite popular, and not only amongst grown-ups, but worriedly amongst our youngsters too.
Many parents are now reaping the consequences of their children’s interest in magic(k). TV series like Charmed, Bewitched etc are widely viewed. All these series alongside the books have opened the interest of children for the occult in such a way, that children not only dress up like Harry Potter, but they play and name their pets the same names as the characters in the books.
Have you noticed the increase in the interest in owls as pets? Have you any idea how to keep these animals? Do you know that these animals hunt at night? Yes, they are creatures of the night. Owls are highly used in witchcraft. Doesn’t it seem odd to you that she uses these kinds of creatures of the night in her books? Everything she incorporates in her books has something to do with the occult, the impenetrable world of the dark. Hardly innocent or healthy is it? Harry Potter parties are very popular within our youngsters, not to mention the bedroom Harry Potter accessories. Posters, bed covers, plastic magical artifacts, all can be obtained in kid’s stores. Well, whether you like it or not, this will bring your kid under serious demonic bondage! You not only bring demons into your home by buying them but you are seriously bringing your children under demonic bondage.
What surprises me the most of all, is that many Christians read these books as well, never ever giving them a second thought. Do they know the Bible? Do they read the Bible? If they would, their antennas would go up right away. . Many, many Christian parents regard witchcraft as a ‘religion from the Middle Ages’ and see nothing wrong with Harry Potter. I have indeed witnessed some parents say that these books enhance their children’s fantasy! Oh yes, they will, not only their fantasy but their knowledge of the occult. This knowledge can hardly be commendable for children. If grown-ups can hardly handle the demonsand the demonic world how are we then to expect our children handle them? Are we not taking our kids to the slaughterhouse? Have we not indeed to take heed of God’s Word that says:
“There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch. Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee”(Deut.18:11)
Have you noticed that all these abominations are contained in the Harry Potter books? Do you know that so called innocent interest in the occult opens doorways for demonic activity not only in the lives of your children but in your life as well? That is if you read them too. Harry Potter books encourage paganism, and all other sources of involvement in the occult, and this opens the doors open wide for demons to enter into your home, your very own life. And enter they will, without a doubt! It will not surprise me if Healing and Deliverances ministries soon will be overloaded with requests for deliverance from people who have opened the doors to the demonic world due to an interest of their kinds or themselves in these books. Friends, God did not forbid these practices for nothing! There are very strong demonic powers involved here. These can cause actual harm and much damage in your and in your kid’s lives. In the end it will drive you away from God!
Don’t you see that when you open yourself open wide to this practices through these books you are in fact inviting demons of deception into your life?“They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, The LORD saith: and the LORD hath not sent them: and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word. Have ye not seen a vain vision, and have ye not spoken a lying divination, whereas ye say, The LORD saith it; albeit I have not spoken?”( Ezek.13:67)
Yes, they will do everything possible to keep you away from God. Many people started to hear voices, or see things in advance due to participation in the occult. Innocent looking books turned out to be deadly weapons. Weapons, if not destroyed, will lead us and our children into our eternal destruction:“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death”(Rev 21:8)
Not only as parents, but as Christian parents we ought to look in the Bible and see if these practices are commendable or not. From these few Scriptures that I have quoted, we can already see they are NOT. What are we doing then, allowing our children to read these? Are we not disobeying God? If someone tells you these books are harmless take God’s Word into account that says:“Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience” (Ef.5:6)
